About Vodafone

Vodafone was established in 1983 when The Racal Electronics Group won a bid for the private sector UK cellular license. It was recognised as the world’s largest mobile network in 1987 and in 1989 Paknet was formed as a joint venture between Racal Telecom and Cable and Wireless.

In 1991, Racal and Vodafone de-merged and the Vodafone group was listed as an independent company on the London and New York stock exchange.

With their headquarters still based in Newbury in London, the company is still one of the biggest mobile networks in the world. Priding themselves on reliable signal and great deals, Vodafone is still a very popular brand within the UK.
