Passport Renewal

Passports need to be renewed every 10 years if you are over 16 and every 5 years if you are 15 years old or younger. If you are thinking to go traveling then it is a good idea to check if your passport is still valid or if you need to get it renewed. You can renew your passport at any time, but it does take a little while until it is ready, so if you are going on holiday it is important to get it updated or renewed way before you head off.

You must replace your passport if it has been lost or stolen or damaged more than usual wear and tear. To renew your passport you will need to have details of your old passport to fill out a paper application form from either the post office or by calling the passport advice line on 0843 515 9489.

Passport Replacement

It is important to keep your passport in good condition and if it does go through more than general wear and tear and is unrecognizable or damaged then you will need to renew it.

If your passport has been lost or stolen then you may be asked to attend an interview for security reasons and this may slow down your application process. Make sure you leave a suitable amount of time to check your passport before you are thinking to leave the country.

Prices

Passports cost £72.50 to replace or £82.25 if you are using the Post Office Passport Check and Send Service. You can only apply for an adult passport if you or your child is 16 years old or turning 16 within the next 3 weeks. To get a child passport there is a different process that you will need to go through.
