The RAC
The RAC or the Royal Automobile Club was created in 1876 by Frederick Richard Simms and was first introduced to provide uniform patrols for drivers. In 1999 the RAC was taken over by the Lex Group who changed their name to the RAC Ltd.
Aviva then bought the company in 2005 and a few years later it was taken over by the Carlyle Group in 2011. The RAC then launched their own website, buying and selling used cars to the public. Recently they introduced their own mobile tire fitting service, providing patrols with spare wheels.

Motorbike Breakdown Cover
The RAC extend the same level of breakdown cover for motorbikes including accident support.
Blue Badge Cover
This is the top level breakdown cover offered by the RAC. Blue Badge cover gives you comprehensive breakdown cover to give you assistance at your home or on the side of the road. If your car can’t be fixed at the roadside then the RAC will tow your car to a local garage to be fixed. If there isn’t one open then they will drop you anywhere in the UK, provide overnight accommodation or give you a replacement car for up to 3 days until your car is fixed and back on the road.

No, the RAC only offer cover for a 12 month period.
When will I be covered from?
You will be covered immediately, as soon as your payment has gone through properly and as long as you aren’t broken down at the time of registering.
